Chickens 4 Colonel Sanders: Personhood Passes OK...
ok4rj: For those of you who haven’t heard, Senate Bill 1433, otherwise known as the Personhood Act, passed the Oklahoma Senate on Wednesday, 34-8.  The Personhood Act seeks to define life at conception and extend the same rights to the “unborn” child as a… bornchild, I guess? Apparently the rights extended to children don’t add up to much in Oklahoma, according to Democratic Senator Jim...

Today in rape culture, OK ed.
An Oklahoma Daily article discussing a sexual assault incident decides that victim blaming is more important than just letting people know to NOT RAPE:  OUPD advises students to take precautions to avoid incidents like these. “Trust your instincts,” Chan said. “Those would be my parting words.” Being alert and aware of your environment can help you avoid finding yourself in an uncomfortable...

Sanity Prevails in Oklahoma, For Now  →
In a sign that—perhaps, maybe—the extreme right’s extremist attacks on the rights and health of women and children may have some limits, the Oklahoma legislature today allowed a bill to die in committee which, if passed, would have denied food vouchers and nutrition services to prenatal and pediatric clients served by Planned Parenthood of Tulsa County. - Jodi Jacobson,...

10 Worst States To Be a Woman  →
5. Oklahoma. Oklahoma legislators looked at how Indiana Republicans are using the specter of abortion to cut off contraception and thinking of ways they can expand on that for brand-new ways to punish women for having working uteruses. Why stop at attacking women not giving birth, when you have women who have babies to punish, as well? With this in mind, the Oklahoma House passed a bill that...

Professor Terminated for Being Transgendered →
According to a petition in support of Tudor, the professor has been approved for tenure twice in the last two years by the Faculty Appeals Committee, but the administration re-wrote the Academic Policies and Procedures manual to prevent Tudor from obtaining tenure. – CLASSIC “I KNOW PEOPLE OF COLOR SO OBVIOUSLY I’M NOT A RACIST” RESPONSE. Though I don’t know Representative Kern’s “true spirit” her action in voting for the proposed constitutional amendment was in fact a racist one.  More on the apology from News9 here.

eddyizm: The Republican-controlled Oklahoma House of Representatives passed a proposed constitutional amendment yesterday that would eliminate Affirmative Action in state government. The measure would prevent administration of the abortion drugs vaginally and reduce the amount of time the drugs could be administered from 8.4 weeks to seven weeks, requiring more medication, said Kate Neary-Pounds, director of Tulsa Reproductive Services. “Barring women from having a medical abortion after seven weeks’ gestation forces women to undergo a surgery procedure when they...

Oklahoma bill outlaws abortion after 20 weeks →
The state senate has voted 38-8 to pass this onto the Governor’s desk, the bill cites fetal pain as its reasoning. Also of note:  Opponents contend abortions aren’t performed in Oklahoma after 17 weeks and accused Republicans of using the issue to pander to voters. Guess maybe this did help create jobs, for all the professional “WHAT THE FUCK?!” sayers out there.
